Tribute to La Luz de Jesus Gallery
La Luz de Jesus Gallery was formed in 1986 as a response to the aristocracy of the L.A. art scene, and it has since become the core of a unique and important scene of its own in Los Angeles, exhibiting artists who incorporate folk art, outsider, prison, hot-rod, comic-book and religious art, tattoo flash, pinups, posters, sign painting, and illustration. This picture book/catalogue features the work of more than forty artists from La Luzs colorful twelve-year history, including Sandow Birk, Georganne Deen, Don Ed Hardy, Manuel Ocampo, and Gary Panter. Statement by gallery founder Billy Shire.
