Sig-Alert

In conjunction with the exhibition “Sig-Alert” at the Arizona State University Art Museum in Tempe, Smart Art Press reveals an alternative approach to the traditional museum catalogue. This catalogue exists only in HTML code, with each page of the publication a separate Web page to be printed out from a computer. The catalogue is not for sale but is available to anyone with access to the Internet. Sig-Alert takes a look at the work of young, cutting-edge artists who are actively energizing the Los Angeles art scene by using alternative approaches to exhibition, mounting shows in venues as diverse as local supermarkets and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Essays by exhibition curator John Spiak, Meg Linton, and Kathleen Vanesian.
