Jody Zellen: Invisible Cities [Pinspot #2]

The “Invisible Cities” series is a suite of computer-generated photographs that juxtapose the mysteries of image and text. In each image a found photograph — an urban setting taken from a newspaper, magazine, or book — is over- and under-laid with text to fill carefully chosen empty spaces. The texts relate to social, spatial, and perceptual aspects of the urban environment, functioning like street signs and billboards, suggesting both navigation and chaos. These lyrical images speak from the heart of the urban experience.
